Senior Education Ministries Inc. offers monthly, quarterly and annual educational programs at no charge to it's senior citizens.  Senior Education Ministries  aspires to strengthen each person's knowledge.  We strive to provide tools to ensure confidence and joy at every point in the senior's life, while encouraging  personal and spiritual growth through prayer,  study and active service in our community.

Organizational Statement of Faith: We are a faith based ministry, dependent on our Lord as He supplies through the gifts of many concerned Christians. Our mission is to provide educational assistance, information, services, and resource linkage  to empower independence for the senior citizen community in an effort to enhance their quality of life while fostering learning and fellowship in a safe Christian environment.

Service Areas: Indiana: Vigo, Parke, Vermillion, Clay, Putnam, Sullivan , Bartholemew, Decatur, Noble, Pulaski, Fulton, Huntington, Jefferson, Johnson, Fayette, Scott, Miami, Delaware, Boone, Henry, and Montgomery counties ; In Illinois: Clarke, Coles, Edgar counties ; and in Ohio: Hicksville.

Territories will increase as God wills and needs arise.

Requirements for Volunteers: VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE APPLICATION FORM AND MEET WITH VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR.  BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE REQUIRED.  BE PREPARED TO SHARE REFERENCES, SKILLS, AND ANY NEW IDEAS YOU HAVE.
Transportation will be required to get you to the site for which you will be volunteering.

Service Projects::
DINE WITH A DOC® is an event that welcomes the local public to get to know the doctor(s)/speaker(s) of the month while enjoying a free meal. Each doctor/ speaker has graciously donated  time in an effort to listen, hear, and answer questions while sharing a meal with the public. Various community businesses also participate by donating door prizes or a complimentary meal for the public to enjoy. They also provide valuable information about their services and/or products that might be beneficial to the senior's needs. Speaker's Bureau presentors are scheduled in various communities to address the non-physician related educational requests. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO SET UP AND SERVE THE MEAL, PASS OUT HAND-OUTS,  RUN AUDIO VISUAL EQUIPMENT, HELP WITH SIGN-IN AND CLEAN UP.

April: Passion in the Park Play--Experience The Passion of Christ's Love for The World, in This Beautiful Drama!  WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH THIS COMMUNITY ENDEAVOR.  CALL FOR DETAILS.

May 17, 2011 Vigo County Fairgrounds Terre Haute, Indiana

Annual Fraud and Scam Awareness Seminar: A themed event for seniors to protect them against frauds and scams that are targeting them. We need volunteers for set up day before, tear down day of event, and during the event to assist seniors as needed.

June-  (2nd Tuesday) The “Teddy Bear Picnic” was created to provide the opportunity for our community to be heroes and enhance the quality of life for those afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease. The public is invited to a picnic complete with refreshments and entertainment. It is requested to bring a teddy bear as a gift for an Alzheimer’s patient when you attend. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO SEW RECIPROCAL BEARS TO GIVE WHEN TEDDY BEAR BROUGHT FOR RESIDENT. ALSO VOLUNTEERS TO VISIT WITH ALZHEIMER'S PATIENTS ON AN ONGOING BASIS.

ONGOING: Nursing Home visitation:  WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO DONATE 1 HOUR PER WEEK TO VISIT INDIVIDUALS WHO LIVE IN NURSING HOMES, ASSISTED LIVING, RETIREMENT HOMES AND HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES: BIBLE READING, ERRANDS, VISITATION, PRAYER.
