THE SENIOR LIVING OPEN HOUSE is a FREE program held annually at various nursing homes in Terre Haute, Indiana-The open houses are conducted simultaneously at each facility. This event was created to make seniors and caregivers aware of the various living areas and businesses that assist the senior population and/or disabled population etc. so that they can make informed choices about living arrangements and resources in their community as they age. This saves the senior/family the time of having to visit each location individually and feel obligated to spend time at a location they may not be interested in after an initial visit but empowered to look into in more detail the businesses that they are interested in pursuing information. The seniors make the choice of which facilities they choose to visit and in doing so are able to see firsthand which locations they'd like to pursue in more depth. The event is conducted in a game like format and is set for the seniors to go from one facility (of their choosing) to another to visit each location and get a game card stamped to show they visited that facility. Upon completion of visiting a designated number of locations (set by Senior Education Ministries), the senior brings the stamped game card back to Senior Education Ministries to be entered into a drawing to win gift cards for local pharmacy, grocery and gas.
