Re: Teddy Bear Picnic TM
“If you go out into our community today You're sure of a big surprise.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.”
With Alzheimer's disease, a person can lose their intellectual, social and emotional
abilities over time. Research has found that dolls and teddy bears can help people with
Alzheimer's disease interact and communicate with others. Teddy bears have been
known to stimulate memories and improve communications with others and overall
improves the quality of life for the Alzheimer patient and their families.
The “Teddy Bear Picnic" was created to provide the opportunity for our community to be
heroes and enhance the quality of life for those afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease.
It is requested to bring a teddy bear as a gift for an Alzheimer’s patient when you attend the picnic which will be a friend to someone who needs a special friend to hang onto.
It would mean so very much if you would take time out of your busy day to make a memory for someone who can’t remember.
Please take just a moment to come and speak to them even if they don’t understand what you’re saying to them.
Remember, They still have feelings and want to be remembered even if they have things locked in their minds and can’t let them out.
They still enjoy hugs and want to be hugged. They need someone to touch them and love them.
Come bring something they can remember from their childhood, a teddy bear they can love and hug.
What you do today will be a blessing and a gift to you from God, because you’ve shared and made a difference in someone’s life.
What you do today will always be remembered in the heart of an Alzheimer's Patient.
Businesses may also donate teddy bears on behalf of their organization to benefit the Alzheimer’s patients at various facilities. You make take them directly to the various participating facilities, OR, you may drop them off at the Senior Education Ministries office located at 7 S. 6th St. Suite 212 in Terre Haute and the ministry will distribute bears on your behalf. That way even agencies that are not participating in the event this year, can still have their Alzheimer’s Residents benefit from your generosity.
Senior Education Ministries, Inc. wishes to acknowledge one business as the forerunner in the effort to provide comfort: Thanks to
Body Balance Chiropractic and Fitness for their generosity in donating two cases of “well adjusted” teddy bears.
In advance, on behalf of those who can’t thank you personally---thank you for making a difference! |
