Music to My Years

Music to My Years is a community partnership contest. Senior Education Ministries and our intern have coordinated with the assisted living and retirement communities to show the vibrant, creative elderly in our community through a contest we call MUSIC TO MY YEARS! of them are participating!!!!

Our goal is to change the stigma that is often associated with the elderly and their level of activity and help with our mission to Serve and invest in our history evidenced in the lives of our senior and veteran communities.

Coffee with a Cop

Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction. It provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department's work in the Vigo County neighborhoods. The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies, or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street.

Fashion Never Grows Old

In recognition of Older American's Month, and May Day, Senior Education Ministries showcases Senior Fashionistas as they kick up their heels and transport you down the fashion runway to demonstrate that , “Fashion Never Grows Old”.

Teddy Bear Picnic

The “Teddy Bear Picnic” was created to provide the opportunity for our community to be heroes and enhance the quality of life for those afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease. The public is invited to a picnic complete with refreshments and entertainment. It is requested to bring a teddy bear as a gift for an Alzheimer’s patient when you attend. 

SAFE (Scam And Fraud Education) Seminar

Senior Education Ministries, Inc. makes it their mission to educate seniors and help reduce the horrific statistics that unfortunately target over Senior citizens and as a result fall victim to fraud.
Each year, with a themed free program that offers attendees the opportunity to visit business booths at their leisure throughout the day. All
businesses are safe, senior service and activity organizations who will ensure the attendees are SAFE.

Yippee Pie Day 

Yippee Pi Day is an occasional pie judging contest and auction to benefit Senior Education Ministries, a great not for profit organization that serves senior citizens and veterans.
When held, It takes place on March 14th (3.14) at Senior Education Ministries 4310 S 11th St. Terre Haute. Entries are due 10am-12pm on the day of the contest. Entry fee is $25 PLUS two identical pies (1 pie for judging and 1 for auction).
Celebrity judging begins at 1:30 pm with awards and auction to follow.
